Langmeier Backup FAQ

Tips: Stop services before backing up

Sometimes it makes sense to stop a Windows service before the backup in order to start it again after the backup. This is easily done in Langmeier Backup.

To do this, use the following batch commands:

net stop "service-name"
net start "service-name"

Examples

Stops the server service:

net stop "server"

Starts the message service:

net start "message service"

Save these batch commands to a file with a .bat extension using the Windows editor. Then, in Langmeier Backup, go to Options -> Settings for this job and in the Before backup -> Run script section, deselect the file path for the batch file you just saved. For the service to be restarted afterwards write a separate batch file and select it in After backup -> Run script.
