Memory Integrity, also known as "Core Isolation" or "Hypervisor-Protected Code Integrity" (HVCI), is a security feature in Windows 11 designed to protect against hardware tampering. It is often used by organizations that need to physically secure devices. However, the usefulness of this feature is controversial among IT experts. If a device is already physically protected, the function does not provide any additional protection, but can impair system performance. Many experts therefore recommend deactivating the function. Another disadvantage is the incompatibility with some software programs, including Langmeier Backup. In this case, the function for mounting data backup images in a virtual drive is blocked if core isolation is enabled.
